Prefilling a syringe

I know its not advisable due to possible issues w/the insulin from the plastic of the syringe- but I am trying to ease my roomie into giving shots and checking BG. Kazi is on a micro dose with no way to mark her dose on the syringe.

I have to be gone tonight for an event until 3-4 hours after shot time. I am leaving 2 hours before shot time. I am thinking of prefilling the syringe RIGHT before I leave. I wouldn't do this for multiple shots etc. , but I am leaning towards thinking that since her drop of insulin would be whats left in the needle itself and since it is 2hrs we should be okay. Thoughts?

should be ok Amanda,
good roommate to help you out.
save a syringe and use water or juice for roomie to practice the drop for next time.
Kazi's numbers are really nice by the way.

I'd also be sure to leave the syringe in the refrigerator.

I agree with Ronnie. Next time, have her practice loading the syringe with you there.

Thanks everyone! I am going on a trip in a couple of weeks and she will be filling the syringe herself by then.
(hopefully) Today was her second attempt at testing bg and 1st shot - wanted to try and simplify things a bit for her. I went through everything last night with her and still left a page of notes and had her text me after each step. I am a wee bit overprotective.

BG was 106 for pmps, and 102 +2 when I got home.

Glad to hear that everything went well. You might want to get a few more tests. I suspect Kazi has a busy evening in store with that +2.
