I think I spelled it right.
Dallas has been having high ALT numbers since his dental last September. It just keeps going up. We tried a limited ingredient diet, but that was not it. He had an ultrasound last month and was normal. He was treated for liver flukes, and goes for another blood test Monday. Fingers crossed that his ALT has gone down. Doc was suggesting possible prednisone, a steriod, but I balked at that, for fear it would cause FD. Dallas can't become diabetic. One of his ears was damaged from a hematoma, so no testing that one. He balks at being held, so I am not sure how I would test him or inject him (he's an ex-stray, and I am uncertain if he was ever abused). I think the doctor is aware of my fears and we might go right to a biopsey, even though he doesn't feel that the steriod has caused his clients to go to FD.

I am putting my cart before the horse a little, but I would like to be prepared, as the results will be in on Tuesday. What are your thoughts on this product?

Prednisolone (sp?) for cats instead of Prednisone. My LeoKitty has to have a depo shot monthly so poor baby will likely be diabetic with severe breathing issues. We tried the prednisolone but it didn't work well enough for him.

You may want to try a liver support product first - Denmarin contains extracts of Milk Thistle plus SAM-e which have been shown to aid a liver with issues.

Discuss with your vet; some products are over the counter.

Yep, he's been on the Denamarin and his ALT went up. He went for his blood test yesterday morning, and I expect the results today. fingers crossed....

Results are in - ALT back to normal. :thumbup :dizcat
He was treated for liver flukes, so that must have been it. Apparently they can be dormant, as he has not been outside since 9/1/2011. Whew! No steroids and no more bills! Now, to start paying my hospital bill!
