I can't express my thanks enough to the fabulous resource!! Should be rated "Top site on the Internet"
Here's a brief of our Maisey and I experience.
1. Date of Diagnosis = Feb. 28, 2011 to Vet;- loss of weight & unending thirst - Results Weds. March 2, BG 500's; spilling sugar in urine
2. Specific Insulin (PZI/ProZinc/compounded, etc.)- PZI 100, compounded in Baltimore 3/3/11 - instruction on use 3/7 - This was done by vet tech - limited and mostly wrong. Never showed me how to test, had wrong size needles so demonstrated with saline, injected in wrong location -ruff. Tried to sell me a vet monitor - to the tune of $240.00 because it came in a cute case and when you pushed the button twice it was set for CAT.
3. When did you switch from dry to wet food. Switched to wet food March 1, 2011.
Went and bought a human monitor at Wal-mart for the handsome price of $9.00, 20 strips and box lances for a total of $33.00
4. If you used any other insulin besides the PZI, which one and how long were you on it - Only PZI
5. Date of last shot 3/30/2011 Av. BG 70's
Most bizarre part, weird all over the place beginning,- Thank God for monitoring and everyone here!! Started low and worked our way up - I think only 1 or two doses were as high as the Vet prescribed 2units. Do print out the hypo sheet immediately and have karo or honey on hand and some canned food with gravy in case of hypo.
Day before last shot had a high of 411? Talk about odd.
This place is the absolute BEST! :RAHCAT :RAHCAT
Still haven't managed to upload a picture of Maisey - my computer lets me limit the pixels or compress, but not both. But she is my ballerina cat - all legs and dainty steps, yet wildly athletic. Short hair tuxedo with a smudge of black at right half her mouth.
