Sophie recently went through a real rough patch, during which she was nauseous (thank you to the folks who helped me figure that out). Now she's improving, but we have reached a little hiccup. She wants absolutely nothing to do with anything I tried to feed her during that time. Which, I guess makes sense, things I ate when I'm nauseous I associate with the feeling.. but that list has included her supplements (Welactin and Dasuquin). It took a lot of wasted food and effort to figure this out unfortunately. I suppose she can skip them for a bit but this poses a unique problem. She needs them for her arthritis. What should I do? Will she get over it? Should I try syringe feeding it to her? I feel so bad that she's going through so much right now.

I am currently in the same boat. At this point, I would syringe critical meds. But be doubly sure she still isn't nauseous.

Sorry to hear that . I still have her on cerenia at the moment, but online it says not to give it to her for more than five days consecutively. She's not seemed nauseous lately unless confronted with something she ate during that time. If I offer her a food she didn't try to eat (or at least isn't too similar in flavor) when she was feeling sick, she eats it all up. She was super hungry when we finally got the nausea under control. What should I do if she still is? Is there maybe an antinausea safe to use longer term?

Ondansetron is what I mainly use, I only use Cerenia if actually vomiting or at the beginning of a pancreatitis flare since it is possibly anti inflammatory. I'm not sure how long ondansetron can be used, I've used it for a week at least.

For now I'd feed her whatever she'll eat that's low carb. You can always try to work the old food back in small bits at a time...but based on how things are going over here it's not hopeful haha

Hi Emily,
Im not one of the more experienced members, but have been going through on and off with my guy Lando ( who has pancreatitis).
He is on cerenia and is taking it longer than the suggested 5 day cycle. If you search the forum a bit more you might find more convos about that.
When lando would NOT EAT at all, i did assist feed ( 4 baby syringes 4xs a day). After cerenia i am able to coax him to eat Dr Elseys Kibble with pure bites chicken crumbled over it. i really feel for you its so frustrating and upsetting. Keep trying other things : inaba churu ; pure bites ; different LC food. Sadly Lando will only eat kibble, so i landed on Dr elseys.
Good luck and hugs to you
