Hello,

Some backstory, the past week Rusty has been eating his food like CRAZY! but noticed today he wouldn't his food as much and whenever he would smell it he'd back up a little bit and lick his lips? Is that a sign of nausea happening ?

(He did eat a good amount a few minutes before posting but not as much as he did last week, gave like a can and a half almost 2 of Friskies Pate now today its almost one can if I'm lucky)

If it isn't something he normally does, then yes it can be a sign of nausea especially if it is right after sniffing food. You could also try to get a quick peek inside his mouth to make sure that there isn't some kind of foreign body stuck in there. Alternatively, it can be a sign of oral issues like ulcers or something like that so you could peek for bleeding or bad spots, but I wouldn't expect something like that to come on quickly.

I don't know if you have any Cerenia or Ondansetron that your vet has given you in the past. If so, you could use it as prescribed. If not, and this continues through tomorrow, then it might be worth a vet visit. You don't want to get to where he isn't eating enough to be able to give insulin, and you also don't want to risk fatty liver syndrome. However, if it is one of those 5.5oz cans of Friskies, that is actually a decent amount to get in to an inappetent cat -- thankfully.

I hope Rusty gets to feeling better :bighug:

His mouth at the moment looks okay right now and luckily going to the vet today so I can ask about getting something for rusty on that and make an appointment ASAP just in case! Had to bribe him with freeze dried treats all over the food to get him to eat that amount
