I had our pet sitter take care of Dennis tonight and he was supposed to get 6u of insulin. I pre loaded the syringe for the sitter and pre portioned the food (for peace of mind).
The sitter had problems getting his BG so I told her to just give the 6u anyways (I tested him 3 hours before she came, and he was in the high 300s so I figured he would be fine). Well, he is 5 hours post insulin and his BG is 585. I have a feeling the sitter did not successfully inject him. He is not acting like himself... he is weak, sluggish, keeping to himself, and he fell off a piece of furniture that he tried to jump onto.
In this case, do I wait for his next dose or do I give him some kind of dose now??
