We have been off the board for a bit, life too crazy and Tom generally was doing well.
Tom turned 18 this summer, still OTJ for over 3 years.

We have been dealing with CRF with extra water in food and started binders. He has been drooling more and more. It was initally thought to be because of excess stomach acid but I have noticed recently a large mass on his tongue towards the back. His excessive drooling has also been recently causing him to over groom himself and he his fur has thined out quite a bit in certain spots over the last few days.

He looks so old now

I have been procrastinating a bit in taking him to the vet, I guess because I'm afraid of what they'll tell me (bad mommy...)He has been eating well and still as cuddly and purry and that kinda also been the reason why I was holding on to the thought that he's OK (bad mommy again. Feel guilty now).

We have an appointment tomorrow afternoon.

The mass on his tongue could be non-cancerous - Farrall had one that turned out to be "ectopic thyroid tissue" and when removed, probably prevented her from getting hyperthyroidism.

Thank you for sharing that. I should not assume the worst.

hope all goes well at the vet tomorrow for Tom. Lots of pats and cuddles for him too.

Best Of Luck at the vet appointment, tomorrow.
Hugs to you, and skritches to Tom.
