Actually, I hit the needle on the counter and it bent, so I put the plastic cap on and, unbeknownst to me, the crooked needle poked through and got me.

Now that he's been eating, he seems to be doing pretty well. (And I'm doing even better actually getting some sleep!) I moved up to 1 unit per the protocol and so far so good. I'm not sure when to move up or if I move up or what, but I haven't had time to post a question. I'll do so in the next day or so.
