Pmps 428 And no idea how to dose

I,m frozen with indecision. I dont know if i should increase decrease stay the same or what. He is due for his shot now. I know i said i'd hold the dose for 3 days but seeing him in the 400's without knowing if it is because he needs more insulin, or less insulin is making me crazy. I dont understand how he can do well one cycle and then do badly alll on the same dosing.

I still think I'd hold the dose. We just don't know what he needs so sticking to slow steady increases is a good place to start. It could be he's in the 400s because he saw a squirrel earlier :p

Some cats take a few cycles to settle in to a dose...this may be the case.

In the end, it's up to you and what you feel comfortable about though.
 
You guys are going to think i'm nuts. I didnt dose at +12. at +13 tested again and he's 392

Is that an indicator of anything to you? Just thought i'd check.

Wait, so how does that variance work? His earlier test was 428, so are we talking 20% of that, which is 85, could just be regarded as a fluctuation instead of a drop? I thought i knew about the 20% but now i dont think i understand.
 
Just in general, meters are allowed to have a 20% variance. So 20% of 428 is 343. Technically, it's supposed to be the variance on the same drop of blood, but we do extend it to compare numbers close to each other and in the same variance.

Where is he now? Wonder if he will start to jump up?

Thanks that 20% is rather large. Here i've been analyzing his numbers so closely all this time. I wouldve thought meters would be more precise! Oh well

I dosed him the standing dose and will test him before bed. Fingers crossed.

Here's a different perspective, Jen. In world units, a BG of 428 US units is equivalent to 23.8. A BG of 392 US units is equivalent to 21.8. If I was comparing two test results, one of 23.8 and the other of 21.8, I'd regard them as very similar in what it tells me about BG status.

Thats very helpful. Yes in mmol the numbers look so similar. I had never looked into it before. Now I've saved a conversion chart to help me with perspective. Thanksl
