Hey,
I know we all talk about keeping Karo syrup on hand for crashes but I found out first hand this morning just how important it really is. Nemo has been on Lantus for about four months, regular BG checks in the 100's so I thought all was well. This morning he was acting VERY odd and I immediately checked his bg....34  I didn't panic but instead grabbed the Karo syrup and rubbed it all over his gums and raced to the emergency vet. By the time I got there he was up to 70. If I didn't have that in the house I have no idea if he would have made it!!
He's recovering nicely now....although his remaining 4 teeth need to be pulled
Make sure you're prepared for an emergency!!! Never thought it would happen but I owe a huge THANK YOU to this forum for preparing me!
