Hello wonderful friends,

I know I haven't posted in a while but could really use some prayers! Sammy's brother who is not diabetic (and also only 8 years old) was diagnosed with liver disease. We are awaiting the results of an ultrasound but the vet seems to think we are not in good shape. I have been crying all day and could really use some prayers right now. I hope everyone is doing well. You all have been such an amazing support system and I am hoping that positive thoughts will go a long way. Xoxo

Prayers for Sammy's brother that he is better than the vet thinks, and the test results will show something treatable.

Aw, sweetie...

Sending healing well-wishes for Sammy's brother, and a really big (((hug))) for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how things go.

Thank you all very much. Leo, (Sammy's brother) was at the vet again all day. He was negative for pancreatitis which we were sorta hoping for because its treatable. So the options now are to do an exploratory surgery which would have to be performed by a specialist and isn't a real option because the vet was very honest that it would likely be thousands. The other option being to treat him with fluids, antibiotics, and pain medicine. Struggling so much with the guilt of not doing surgery and the vet is meeting us each day this weekend to administer the fluids. Thank you so much for the prayers and hugs. We very much, like many of you, consider Sammy and Leo our kids. And this is just so hard.

You have to decide what you would feel comfortable with for treatment with your cats. Personally, I have declined exploratory surgery for one of my cats after needle biopsys were inconclusive. I've had major surgery and the recovery is tough. I have decided I'm not going to put my cats through that.

Especially if the result was to confirm cancer and chemo therapy was the only option. I would not put my cats through chemo treatments either.

It's not even always about the financial aspects. How would you treat the cat going forward if the exploratory surgery found something? Would it really make a difference in the quality of your cats life?

We very much, like many of you, consider Sammy and Leo our kids. And this is just so hard.
It is very hard to make those types of decisions. You do your best and love your cat as much as you can.

Deb and wink,

Thank you for saying that. The idea of putting him through that type of surgery scares me to death. Especially with the uncertainty of it all. I think with grief and worry its so hard to remember those things when all you want to do is make it better. It's not an option as it would be upwards of 3-4 thousand. I appreciate the prayers and kind words. Take care everyone.

Sending many prayers for Sammy's brother. Our 16 yr old had surgery to remove a mass from his spleen. When they got in there the mass was on his pancreas which really complicated things. The surgery was too much for him and he passed of massive infection.
I regret so much, putting him thru that for his last days.
I hope the fluids will really help him feel so much better. I know it is so hard.I hope this helps.

Take Care(((hugs)))
