My Lily was diagnosed in January and started on 1 unit of Prozinc twice a day. We are now up to 4 units. Lily is about 13 years old and is semi feral so checking her blood sugar is very challenging. I am using a PetTest meter currently. I will probably change to ReliOn since I have an extra one for when I check my blood sugar.
I have switched Lily to Friskies canned pate from Science Diet M/D. At first she didn't want it but not eats all that I give her. Her blood sugar before eating tonight was 180 so I tested again in the other ear and it was 235 and now I am questioning how accurate the meter is.

I just started my spreadsheet so I want to make sure it show up.

I can see it. You're doing a great job getting data from a semi feral cat!

4U is a pretty high dose of ProZinc, how did you/vet determine to increase? How often did you increase, and by how much?

Her spreadsheet reads like the dose may be too high. The random lower numbers you're getting are a clue she's dropping lower then bouncing - bouncing is when they drop lower and/or faster than they're used to (it may be dangerously low, it may not) the liver perceives it as a threat and dumps stored glycogen and counterregulatory hormones to spike BG back up. It can take a few cycles to come back down.

I know this is a tall order, but it would help if you can vary the times that you test a little more. Nadir (the lowest BG) on ProZinc is usually in the +4 to +8 range. When they clear a bounce, it can be later than usual, sometimes at shot time.

As for the meter - they have 20% variance within the "usable range" (the range the meter is designed and tested for), so thats what you saw tonight.
