Please see vlads current SS in sig.

He's been on 4.4U vetsulin for a good 8 cycles, and 4.2 before that. He has been pretty high, not getting too too low. Today when I noticed his infected tooth, took him to vet and they gave him gabapentin for the pain and a broad spectrum oral liquid antibiotic (i forget which, I can look). I didn't change his dose. But tonight he is going loowwwww. I think I can keep up with it with food and maybe maple syrup if needed. But I am trying to decide what to do with his morning dose, and tomorrow nights dose. Also, I think his mouth is hurting him enough, even with the meds, that I'm syringe feeding him tonight. Hope the antibiotics start helping with his pain before too long.

Please advise.

Here's your previous post (it helps so people can quickly go back and see what's been going on)

I wonder if the gabapentin lessoned his pain and that's why he took such a nosedive? You do need to check that antibiotic though. A lot of the oral ones have a sugar in them.

Since you're using Vetsulin and he dropped that low, I'd definitely reduce him back down tomorrow.

The dose rec said 0.05 to 0.1 ml of the gabapentin. I used it the first night, and I think it really worked, but maybe too much? I tried using 0.05 ml, but it was probably closer to 0.06 ml, and it seemed to make him stoned out of his little mind or something, he was so relaxed he just laid there and stared for hours. I was glad for him to get some relief but he was so out of it he wouldn't eat anything or drink. I syringe fed him, and he would just hold the food in his mouth and go to sleep.

Since that night I haven't used it again, I wonder if the dose was too high for his little 5.5 lb body, and I REALLY need him to eat as much as possible. Maybe I should half that dose? like 0.02 ml?

Gaba is STRONG. Even my 15 lb cat needs less then the vet recommended. I would half that dose next time.
