PJ was at 167 last night so I gave her .25u and the same this morning. I hate to stick her for such a small bit of insulin - she doesn't mind the testing too much but hates the shot

No to while she's eating - I don't want do anything that would make her "not" want to eat. I wait usually at least 20 minutes when she's eaten.

I give to her in the scruff and sometimes she acts like it doesn't hurt but most times she flinches and sometimes I jerk and pull out  She doesn't have a lot of extra skin and with her black long/fuzzy hair it's hard to even find the skin.

I gave to her once in her side/flank area and she hissed and growled at me
Her nickname is Ms. Hissey  But she's never bitten or scratched me...

You could have some fur shaved. although it looks like you may not be doing this dance long (anti jinx) How about saving a teeny bit of food for those 20 minutes and give her another little snack after her breakfast while you give the shot? It might make her associate food with the shot but maybe not….

You are pulling up what skin you can, right? I have heard shooting into any muscle can hurt.

I have given her boiled chicken and this a.m. took some dehydrated chicken to her at shot time - but she wouldn't eat it w/me close to her. I put her on the table w/the chkin in front of her but she didn't eat it while a gave the shot - had to coax her to eat it after I gave the shot and moved away a bit.b

I thought about shaving some hair - am definitely doing it on her ear so the blood will bead up better. I wish she was a bigger cat w/some meat on her!

Well, at least this morning she got a treat when shot. Maybe you can continue to reward her that way and she'll decide it's worth it for the treat?
