I realize I was not in this group very long, but I wanted to thank you all for your help on cost effectively attempting to maintain Piper's diabetes. Unfortunately, while trying to regulate her blood glucose her pancreatitis flared up. Her levels were so high they did not register. That night, after learning this from the vet- everyone's hope was that Piper would make it through this so we would all have time to get the Lantus to where it needed to be. Piper had several strokes that night and one left her left side basically paralyzed. Her left eye could no longer open, she could not open her mouth for feedings, and she stumbled when she walked. I had to let her go. She wasn't the cat she wanted to be. It took her a huge effort to walk. And she had not used to the litter box nor would she go on the floor. I got her ashes back today, it has been a week since I lost my little girl

If anyone is in need of Lantus, please let me know. I have a vile that has been barely touched. It is also still within the "30 day" period. I really hate asking for money for it, but I am sure you all know whet it is like to struggle with vet costs. I am only asking $150 for it. It came from a WalMart pharmacy. I have bubble wrap and can ship priority. I live in the Hampshire county area of Western, MA-US, so somewhere on the east side of the states might be easiest. I am not that familiar with this forum, so I am not sure if people are able to send me a message privately. If no one needs it, does anyone else have any other suggestions? I'd hate to see it go to waste.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved Piper.

In regards to the Lantus insulin, you may want to post over in the Supply Closet forum here. We suggest that people reply via PM (Private Message) so that your personal information stays personal.

If no one speaks up for the insulin, there is always DCIN (Diabetic Cats in Need).I'm sure they could find a kitty that needs the insulin.

How to ship insulin safely, by the folks at DCIN.

I am so very sorry to hear about your precious Piper. I am with you in grief as I lost my beloved civie Lianna on Sunday.

She was nearly 19 but that does not make it any easier. Our 2 girls will be playing together at Rainbow Bridge, happy and healthy and watching over their mums. My Lianna was a pedigree Birman and survived over 7 years after a diagnosis of HCM. In the end it was probably not even her heart that was the problem. She had a fit (first one ever), came out of it still conscious but lapsed into a coma some time whilst she was being rushed to the vet. They couldn't do anything to save her so I had to let her go.

R.I.P. our beautiful girls.

Thank you all for your very kind words. :) And Cassandra... I am so sorry for your loss. At any age, it isn't easy.

So very sorry to read about Piper. Theses little ones are such precious beings and give us so much love. I am sure Piper felt your love too.

I'm so sorry that Piper is gone, but it's clear that you gave her all the love she deserved and that it was her time to let go. Best wishes over the next period while you get used to life without her around.
