I usually use pill pockets to give my cats any medication in pill form. I was giving Lucky an allergy pill zyrtec 1/2 a tablet in a pill pocket for her allergies. But have not given her allergy meds because I don't know if pill pockets are okay carb wise? Are they? I usually get the chicken. I wanted to contact the company who makes them to ask, but their contact page was conveniently unavailable.

They're not especially great, but you are not giving them regularly I assume (more than once per day), so probably fine. Some cats are more sensitive to carbs tho, just watch his glucose and if you see him skyrocketing for no other obvious reasons, then you might need to find a different method for pilling. (I've seen suggestions here of using cream cheese or butter the same way you might use a pill pocket, probably other things could be used as well)

Try the duck and pea from the dog section.
Or a small piece of American cheese may work to wrap the pill.

I break the pill pockets into smaller pieces - just enough to wrap the pill.. and it doesnt seem to impact my cats BG that much.
