Pika pmps: 195 Trying to be consistent.. worried I did too much.

Okay so I know I have issues of not being consistent and pika had his appointment and all was well expect for my inconsistency with his dose. I was told exactly what you have told me to do.. and that is be consistent. He did want me to give 2.75U and keep consistent.

So Pika did a thing today and didn’t hit his nadir till +12 (150) so I delayed 2 hours to see what his sugars would do.. and here is my issue.. I’m not consistent so I know I need to be so he did get to 200 in his sugars by delaying 2 hours. And then I gave this dose of 2.75.. did I just major mess up? I don’t have the data to back anything because I’m so inconsistent. So I took a huge step and did his full dose when I wasn’t comfortable just to be consistent.. my inconsistency has not been helping my sweet pika get regulated…. But I am like so worried I just overdosed my kitty. He still has his sensor for like 16 more hours. I don’t think I can come off it yet until i get him more under control. I have taken off his shirt so no more shirt and he has stopped pulling out his fur. So I’m slowly getting better. But I am trying to be consistent. This was super hard for me to do to give 2.75 at like 200 yes his sugars were slowly rising. Not fast.. and he has been at 200 for 40 minutes.. his insulin will start to kick in soon.. his history has ways been when he started to rise he kept.. he isn’t following what he has done in the past. So that makes me worried that I gave too much.. but I don’t even know what he will do.. I know this insulin is supposed to do better when he is actually in range.. I’m just scared and care too much!

I think it’s fine you gave him insulin if you can get a +2 and if lower set ann alarm for later. You can’t shoot at the normal time in the morning as it will only be 10 hours. Some cats nadir at shot time but I think Pika was flat. 195 would have been fine to shoot on time. Remember meter variance is 20%.

It went amazing!! He just stayed in the 160-200 range!! There wasn’t any huge drops that I was worried about. I officially don’t understand insulin. I get how it works but I don’t get it.

so does insulin want to keep the blood sugar in range? Like I I know it does if you shoot lower like 150-200 does like more hold you there vs when your high it works on normalizing the high glucose and that is where I see huge drops. Vs when your blood is better.. it doesn’t have work as hard making no huge drops? I don’t know if that makes sense…. But I’m so proud of myself!! I did it!! I was consistent! And he was fine!! But created new questions.

My sensor does end today. At 4. I’m going to let pika have a night without a sensor and see how he does with pokes.. if he doesn’t let me poke I’m putting sensor back on tomorrow.. but no clothes….

Very nice cycle last night. Good job shooting. Please start a new condo and I will answer your questions there. We ask everyone to start a new condo every day. That way you don’t get lost in the crowd. You will continue to have lots of questions as you gather data. There’s a huge learning curve with fd.

Be sure to let us know when you gave the morning shot. Tell us what you fed last night and when. If you have not already add it to your comments on your ss too. It will help you next time you are in a similar situation.
