Well, the raise went about as eventful as expected. Nothing much. I was not so good at collecting late cycle data as I wanted to be. I am so exhausted with everything (work, school, trip planning, care... ect..) that I crashed very hard last night. I am working to get better on this.

I will be raising his R tonight as well and hope to see some results. Something has to give, right? I simply cannot afford the insulin need at this point. We were blessed beyond words with a box of Levemir from @saltycat and could not be more grateful. But, he his chewing up a pen every 4 days now...

I am going to be calling around to internists and cat specialists in the area tomorrow and trying to coincide that with Paula from WSU so that i know exactly what they will need. I want to get someone who maybe has experience with an acro cat or even a Manx. I need to know where we are with him. I honestly do not feel that there is anything going on over what I already know, but it cannot hurt to check. I will simply try another loan. I also want to discuss the possibility of bupe with them. I am not so certain this Gaba is working all that well and I am worried about the kidney thing with it... I hope to know more soon!!

@Wendy&Neko were we discussing 3 dosses of R a day? One on the am and pm cycles and a mid-cycle overnight or simply moving the pm dose to mid-cycle rather than with the L?

I think the R dosing should be based on when you can monitor. It also does not have to be at preshot. The goal is to pick a time when numbers are rising and to try to limit that rise. Preshot is often good because there is time before onset, so the R gives the L a better number to work with. Neko's R onset was later than normal which was one reason I shot R late in the cycle, as soon as I saw her start to rise. I very seldom did more than 2 R shots a day. Have you looked around at other SS of kitties that got R? Crystal is one high doser. Take a look at Jack's (Wes/saltycat) too.

For Neko's SRT, they wanted recent bloodwork, to make sure she'd be fine for anethesia. For her second SRT, they also wanted a recent echocardiogram. Good luck with the phone calls.

Just reading up on you and Pig. I hope you can get him SRT'd really soon. The amount of insulin he needs is astronomical. In your case the cost of the SRI will be far less than continuing with 39U levemir bid. At this point, you need a grant, not a loan. Since Pig is a service kitty, are there any possible grants for such?

By the way, how did Pig get his name, and how did you acquire him at such a tender age?

When we were at our highest (37u Lev), Bronx was also getting up to 6u of R. Maybe an increase in R might help bring Pig down to BG#s that the Lev can grab hold of? (I am no expert by any means and am probably too aggressive with R, but acros are tough cookies and not easy to hypo).

I like this idea. Having that flexibility will help a lot. The trick is catching it at the right time..

Have you looked around at other SS of kitties that got R? Crystal is one high doser. Take a look at Jack's (Wes/saltycat) too.

I have glanced at a few and have tried to make sense out of them.. But, I am horrible with numbers and patterns. That being said, I can decipher some of it!

Is this all they will want? I would assume they would look at blood pressure and the like..

I think you are entirely right.. I am planning to get a bit more aggressive. I have been very pansy footed as of late because he likes to bounce all over the place. However, he needs some time in the lower numbers... Desperately.

I know there are places that help with costs, but also there has to be some that help with medical animals. Pig is quite literally prescribed to me for certain reasons. He has been registered for many years. There has to be something that is in support of their care. Now, I need to find out how. But, where to look??
