This work schedule has got me all messed up! I am so sorry for the late posting, but we are here! So, the day was going good until we hit the +8 number and I do not know what is going on... I am always worried about food influence, but we are feeding raw. I did have a slight mishap with the freezer the other day so hopefully that has not effected the food. He is still being slowly transitioned and we have seen some wonderful results with it so far.

Looking at the calendar and how much Lantus I have left, it looks like we will be needing to make the move to Levemir on Thursday the 15th during the pm cycle. That will allow me to be at home through the first 5 cycles. I am worried about the later nadirs because I will have to be at work during the nadir on the 5th cycle. I go in at 6 Sunday morning. However, I should be able to get my brother down here to monitor him. That will mean the switch will happen on a Lantus increase cycle, which will be good.

We are moving to 30uL tonight, so the Levemir will need to be dosed at 21u to begin, correct?

I sure hope this helps bring down the usage some...

I haven't been in this subforum for awhile. Wow, Pig is still going up in dosage without much response. Acro can be so challenging.

For new doses in Levemir, yes, I would probably start at 21 and see if it has any effect. When Leo was high dosing (pre SRT), I changed him to Prozinc and he was very responsive to it. So an insulin change can be dramatic. But Prozinc was too expensive at the dose levels, so he went to levemir after that Prozinc bottle.

I also hope the dose is effective with the new insulin. So challenging for your poor kitteh.

Yes.. You are right. That is, perhaps, the hardest part of the whole thing. I can do without a lot of stuff and the financial aspect I am working with, but how he feels is just tearing me up. I know I am doing all that I can and taking the very best care of him, but it is still so frustrating! I am hoping that the Levemir will have some better effect. At this rate, it will be forever until I have the cash to get him to WSU. We will make it there, though. It is just so hard until then...

I hope the Lev works better for Pig. 21u would be a safe bet, and you have R in the toolbox to help out along the way back up. Acro can be so frustrating :(
Yes it can... It is a constant up and down, I am learning. However, I am diligently working towards treatment for him and plan to have him at WSU's doors by summer. I am just trying to keep up the positive through it all, for him.
