just throwing this out there. if any1 is interested in talking by phn, some, let me know here, or pm me. i know it would be a great help to me, at times. many things i cant explain by just typing. sometimes the internet is down, or the pc crashes, also. lots of unexpected things. if u would like to support each other and chat sometime, feel free to let me know. :) we can talk abt our babies too. :) new friends r nice. ~O)

Communicating by phone while it can be fast has the problem that answers to your questions can't be peer reviewed like posts in this forum. All cats are different and thus what works for one cat (the experience of one caretaker) may not work or be appropriate for your cat.

This is reflect in:

which includes
Keep your advice public. Helping cats is a team effort, and it's undermined when people are receiving offline advice, unknown to the rest of the group. Many sets of eyes are better than one.

Hi Pam,

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with Larry that advice giving should be public and subject to peer review, I do also think it can be good sometimes to chat with other FDMB members in person. A voice on the end of the phone can sometimes be very reassuring. And I think FDMB meet-ups are a great idea. (It can be very helpful to 'put a face to the user-name', and can be fun too. And some of us have made some good friends this way! )

I agree with Elizabeth - there is a place for both. It's true that posting here will get a wider audience from a greater knowledge base, but one to one help can be invaluable too - this is an international board and we are not all in the same time zone by any stretch of the imagination, so local help can be a life saver.

thank u. yes, it would be great, since theres no local meetup of like folks with FD kitties. i know, larry, i wasnt going to breech the contract. no desire. just hear a friendly voice, and have a real conversation, with sum1 who has a baby like urs. takes the isolation factor out. :) i am in the US, if any1 is interested. on EDST. we could figure out a time, i am sure. just pm if ur interested. i am sure there r others who like verbal communication. :)
maybe someone evn needs an ear. i can listen. :)

And if it happens that you do give advice or info via pm, phone, in person, etc. post a summary here, to make it public as soon as possible and get feedback.

I can speak with you on the phone..........I know it works best for me and the beginning I was confused as too much to read at once and my Dyslexic brain could not absorb anything. I was lucky to have a couple of members step up to the plate and allow them to call me - IT WAS A HUGE HELP, AND EVERYTHING WAS CLEAR and as you can see from Davidson's SS I've mastered this testing and everything pretty well.

PM me your number and I will reply to you with mine...........I'm on Toronto time

UPDATE: No assistance was required at this time nor was any information needed on FD.........mainly she just wants to schmooze about out cats or general conversations. I explained I wasn't suitable since it's long distance and I understood the post that help was needed. I did explain if anything was needed to use the "?" or "911" and to put something in the subject line that would attract some to reply to her needs.........We all have busy lives and I certainly appreciate the help I've received by phone or email posts here..........but it was always FD related and I wasn't looking for anything else.........all good..........
