I saw someone mention on here that their petco said they are discontinuing FF and I *think* they said that ff is coming out with a better line...(which I translate as "more expensive line")

So I went to their website and saw this: https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petco...variety-pack-adult-canned-cat-food-5004227--1

So.. seems all Petcos ARE discontinuing at least some FF...

But to the other part of it... is there any indication that FF themselves are changing things?

Petco's site lists foods that will no longer be carried, which includes Fancy Feast, Friskies and Sheba:

I know all the FF patés have artificial colors and flavoring. I will curious to see what the FF Naturals are like. If I didn't force variety on them, my cats would be happy to live on FF Seafood Feast.

I believe Crave, a newer Mars Petcare product, was introduced as the more "natural" alternative to Sheba.

That sounds nice but if Petco sells all those brands they have a huge job to do. I wouldn't doubt one or more brands will end up being sold under a subsidiary label. When I worked at The Body Shop we believed in our promise of not tested on animals but controlling all those suppliers was a nightmare.
And what is their definition of artificial ingredients? Eat corn and you're eating Roundup, it's just not required to be on the label.

In Canada FF now comes in boxes of 16 but always three different "flavors". I appreciate the pull top but I really wish they'd make bigger cans.
