Pet Health Insurance

The problem with insurance in general is that they won't cover an already diagnosed condition. I'm sure that there will be people who already had insurance before their cat was diagnosed who may get some help with costs, but if you're thinking about buying insurance for an already-diagnosed cat then it's extremely unlikely that they'll offer any coverage at all for diabetes.

yeah...nobody covers pre-existing conditions, so the only time insurance will help is if you bought it before there was any sign of diabetes

From what I've read from people who did have insurance before the diagnosis, yes, they pay for some supplies....it depends on the policy. They also help pay for testing done at the vets office

Does anyone here have a pet insurance that helps with feline diabetes?
I'm in the UK. My pet insurance was in place before Dx and it has covered anything I've claimed thus far. The cover I have is a finite amount per condition so I've mainly claimed from 'the pot' for vet fees, diagnostic scans, etc., so that if anything major cropped up there would be funds to cover it. The times I have claimed for insulin, syringes and test strips when purchased through my own vets they have settled the claims. I fork out for the rest of my supplies but I think that if I were to keep the claims reasonable I think they would probably cover them.

In Illinois people who have it have told me that they also require certain things such as vaccines. I had a client with pet insurance whose pet had cancer. They would pay for treatment/chemo but not euthanasia.
I think you really have to read the fine print on the policy.

I have insurance on all my other cats but not Squallie. He had already been diagnosed with diabetes when I bought the insurance, and I didn't get it for him because they wouldn't cover it. It also would have been very expensive for him because of his age.

ETA: I filed claims for one of my civvies who has a heart issue and needed an ultrasound, and who badly injured a leg and needed repeated veterinary care for over a month. It's been almost 45 days and I still have not heard anything from them, except to say that they received the claims.
