Hi guys, I'm reading the FAQ and particularly the peripheral neuropathy section. The links referenced do not work. I really need to help my Squishy with this issue ASAP. Are other references available please??

"Q7.1. My cat is walking funny / weak in the hind legs / not jumping well. Is this related?

A7.1. There is a condition common in diabetic cats called peripheral neuropathy, which causes weakness in the hind legs. Symptoms include: weak hind legs; feet slipping out from under him/her on the floor; walking down on the hocks in back and/or on the wrists in front; lying down more frequently, especially after short walks If your cat has this condition, it is a sign the cat's blood glucose is still too high, which is causing nerve damage. Improved regulation is the best way to reduce neuropathy, but check out Laurie & Jasper's page for additional treatment options using oral methylcobalamin (a form of vitamin B-12), and Jason & Mr. Kitts' research on using injectable methylcobalamin..."

Hi and welcome to the forum:)
I see you have both your spreadsheet and signature set up, thank you!
Peripheral neuropathy is quite common in diabetic cats. My Sheba had it quite badly and used to slip and slide on the floor boards, had to sit down every few steps and had difficulty walking up stairs and could not jump on chairs. Once her blood glucose levels wee more under control and with the help of Zobaline which is a methyl B12 product, she gradually returned to normal over the period of about 6 months. You can buy Zobaline from life link.com

This most important thing to help the neuropathy is to get the blood glucose levels back into normal numbers again.

Can we help you with anything else?
Keep asking questions

Renee, where did your source the Q71 from.?
I’m not having any trouble getting through to the links where I got the information about neuropathy from.

Thanks. I will let the moderators know about this.
@Wendy&Neko @Marje and Gracie @Sienne and Gabby (GA) some of the links in the above post 4 do not work.
The links are working if you access them from the main health links page but not from the page that new members are given.
Thanks.

I second what Bron said. Minnie’s neeropathy was so advanced that she could barely walk more than 2-3 steps without having to stop to rest. She couldn’t jump and she’d just pee wherever she was because she couldn’t lift her legs up to get in and out of the litter box. The vets said at best she’d recover 30% but once her diabetes was regulated and with daily methyl B12, she recovered 95%. She was pretty much back to normal, jumping everywhere, going up and down the stairs and even chasing and catching a few mice :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I’m sorry I’m just seeing this now but we’ve all had issues getting our alerts from time to time.

@Corey & Kitty We moderators have advised the Webmaster there are links in the FAQs and other resources in the FDMB home page which don’t work. Unfortunately, moderators are unable to fix these links in the manner in which we can within the forum. I apologize for that and I hope the other info in this post has helped you address the neuropathy. We’ve had many cats here have it and the combination of methylcobalamin and getting the BG under control eventually resolves it.

My baby has neuropathy as well. He was just diagnosed with diabetes about a month ago and still trying to get his BG levels regulated. Does anyone know if Zobaline affects blood sugar? In the threads on here I'm finding that it doesn't, but I few of the reviews on Amazon mention that it affected their cats levels. I'm scared to start. Not to mention that I have had so much anxiety this past month that I have absolutely driven myself crazy and everyone at the vet clinic knows who I am by now. I keep calling with questions. I'm hoping to find most of my answers on this forum.

It has never affected Tyler's BG nor have a I seen anyone else say that
Zobaline is expensive for what you get, a member here told me about this a long time ago which many members use which is less expensive, one per day mixed in with wet food and add water to it
https://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-vitamin-b-12-methylcobalamin-5000-mcg-100-capsules-6

Once you get your cats BG better regulated and the Methyl B-12 it will get better

If you have any other questions I would start your own thread on the Feline Health Forum
Here is the link

To the right it says post new thread

Do you have an actual link for Jason & Mr. Kitts’ research? This link isn’t working.
