Pepcid AC

Hi,
Chong seems to be miserable for about 2 hours after am food & insulin shot. I usually bring food to her so she will eat again about 1-2 hours after shot. It seemed to 'ground' her. I thought it was the Insulin shot but after reading about Pepcid AC I wonder if it is the food.

Is there any downside to my trying 1/4 tablet of 10 mg Pepcid AC to see if we can get through the miserable part? There are over 3000 posts mentioning Pepcid but I'm not finding information of any downside. Does anyone on PZI forum use it? Do you give it an hour before eating in a pill pocket? Should I give it a try or will it mess with anything else? I don't want to complicate anything if there is no reason to.

Thanks again.

Yes, I use it! It is very common to give to cats that have Pancreatitis. I don't give it on a regular basis, but whenever Kitty has a flare up I reach for it. Be sure to get the "right" Pecid--- I do think it is the Pepcid AC, but I don't have the bottle in front of me, so I am not sure. If you post in health, someone will reply quickly with an answer. I am giving Pepcid to Kitty now and she is on her insulin, Cerenia, heart meds, blood pressure meds, Zeniquin, blood thinners, Bupe, and there have been no issues. If Kitty can take it with her Drug cocktail, I would say it is REALLY safe!

Good Luck!

I was giving Shadoe 1/4 tab (2.5mg) pepcid at shot times. She had frequent pancreatitis issues and the pepcid seemed to settle her stomach down well.
When I started giving her B12 shots for the pancreas inflammation, her need for pepcid went away.

The pepcid did make a difference as I had tried to stop it a few times, but noticed she was upset and not eating as well, so I started it up again.

if it's really helping, you may want to speak to your vet about the need, and maybe B12 shots could help Chong.

I'd like to hear about the Vitamin B shots too. How do you know if Vit B is needed?

On Pepcid, when do you give it to your kitty? An hour before eating? While eating? Anytime?

Thanks.

Barb
