Penny was reluctant to eat this morning (still ate all of it) but is not touching her food this evening, so we have not given her her evening shot. I'm pretty concerned because her appetite has been voracious for awhile now because we're still getting her regulated, and she seemed totally fine last night. But today she is hanging out near the water bowl and other water sources, which I haven't seen her do in months. Also seems a tad irritable. I do have some appetite stimulant, pain medicine, and nausea medicine available. What should I do?

Does she have a history of pancreatitis? What do you mean by irritable? Do you notice her meatloafing when laying down, laying down slowly, or parking her backside/butt out when sitting in a normal position? Does she seem interested in food but not touching it?

The meds I mentioned were actually prescribed for what the vet suspected was pancreatitis in December- she was not officially examined though. Her symptoms now do appear similar to then except she doesn't really look like she's in pain like she did then. She's not meatloafing really. She showed interest in a higher carb dry food, so we went ahead and let her eat that so we could administer the insulin (she ate about 2/3 of a normal serving). I mean irritable as in tail going back and forth in an irritable manner, not as easy to get her interested in pets/purring, etc. She is still hanging out by water, but we gave her insulin since she ate most of a meal.

Taz had pancreatitis for almost 3 months. Some days I knew a flare up was coming because he wouldn't want to eat and he'd start drinking a lot more than normal or hanging out by the water dish (not drinking). Those were usually his first signs, then within a day or two he would start laying down more gingerly. I would stick to moist food because if it is pancreatitis trying to rear its ugly little head, you're going to want that extra moisture in the food. I would start adding a bit of extra water to Taz's food when he started acting off. Is it possible to syringe feed her if she doesn't eat for you? You can always give a bit of nausea medicine and some pain medication to see if that helps.

Thank you, she pretty quickly returned to normal yesterday afternoon. I think we're in the clear for now! Maybe she just simply needed more insulin. She was acting similarly to the way she was that made us initially take her to the vet months ago before her diagnosis.
