Pelles numbers day 2 after dose change

Pelles numbers are going a bit up and a bit down. But since it is only day two after the dosechange i guess it is pretty normal.
He is still not to happy with the bg testing, so on days like today where the amps and +4 is pretty much the same they give him time of from testing and only do 4 times a day, so that he is not to pissed when the numbers are low and they really need to test.
But he is still in the yellow numbers most of the time and that is really not to bad i guess.

As you point out it is only day 2 on the new dose. He needs time to settle on it so they should be patient. Might take 5 days to see improvement - or at least more of a change.

I would have like to see a late cycle test when the +4 is nearly the same as the PS. A test somewhere between +8 and +10 might show a very different story than the +4. But I know how hard it is to "force" a test on a cat that isn't happy about it. Does he struggle? Jeddie used to struggle, claw and bite. I had to wrap him in a thick blanket so only his head was exposed. He is much better about it now - due to the power of treats afterwards. Are they giving Pelle treats and lots of praise and pats after each test? He should be accepting it better after a few months.

These are good numbers. Not "normal" non-diabetic ones, but they are near renal threshold which can be anywhere from 10-12 (180-220). Once they can get him below 10 for most of the day they should see a lot of improvement. Once Beau was below renal threshold he started perking up and playing and interacting more.

I hope they feel the improvements already are rewards enough that they are glad they didn't have him PTS. That would have been a tragedy.

They are very happy that they didn't put him to sleep, allready after a week after they contacted me he was doing better, and now he is a lot better since then.

He hisses and bite when he they test him too much during a day, so they are carefull not to do it more that he can handle with succes. They are praising him and giving him treats as well.

Tonights pmps as 304 so i guess his numbers just slowly raised from +4. But we all know that it will take a few days for him to settle in, so we are calm about the numbers. After all his numbers at 0,6 units started out the same way and then ended pretty good.
