Hello everyone,
Extremely difficult to type this out, but there were some incredibly helpful people here who helped out during a huge time of need for us. Today, Peeka crossed the rainbow bridge. She had been steadily improving for the last few months/years, everyone who had encountered her when she was first diagnosed would comment on her improvement.
Unfortunately, the last few days came, she wasn’t eating, and when we checked her kidneys, they were in final stage failure. The vet told me here levels were maxed out on his machine ~130 and there was nothing further that could be done. I confirmed with another vet who told me there wasn’t a lot to be done this late, and that prolonging the decision would lead to more pain for Peeka.
Just wanted to thank all you wonderful people here for helping with Peeka and our journey. Thanks to everyone here, I’ve even taught some of our veterinary care friends some things about feline diabetes. We still have her brother baby Boo who has been doing well for years now to tend to. But just wanted to give everyone here a final update with Peeka. She had been improving for well over a year and was jumping onto counters, sniffing around for food, even stealing crumbs from our daughters hands when she was feeling particularly cheeky.
