Last night after giving Peeka her normal dosage, I tested throughout the first 4 hours, and her BG never really lowered. I was unable to get anything past a +2 today, but more of the same. I read with pancreatitis, it could cause issues with insulin dosage. Should I just continue testing and seeing if it gets better, or do I need to look into switching insulin sooner rather than later? SS has been updated to reflect up to date numbers.

Hi Peter,

For general information, pancreatitis is an inflammatory process in the body, and when a cat is being treated for *any* inflammatory or infectious condition it may impact BG level. While undergoing treatment a little extra caution is needed with insulin dosing because as the treatment progresses BG levels may fall as the problem starts to resolve so one needs to give adequate insulin but not so much that BG levels might drop a bit too far unexpectedly as the condition improves.

Did you give Peeka any insulin last night? The dose cell is blank for last night's PM cycle so it's unclear what action you took.

I'll be away from my PC for a while but I'll check back with you when I'm online later. FWIW, all things considered, yellows aren't all that bad at the moment.

I did, sorry. Forgot to enter in her dose units from last night. Normal dose the last two cycles, although with this new information, I may decrease until things start to settle down in her body. The last thing I need is for a hypo incident while I'm away at work, I am sleeping super light recently, trying to keep an ear out for her. Although she managed to sneak her way into our room last night and was sleeping sweetly next to the bed when we woke up. I'm certainly glad for the yellows as well, they are a much welcomed surprise. I'll keep testing to see where we stand with her BG. Appreciate the help.

All things considered, she is doing pretty well. My sister has commented how much stronger her walk looks, making her long distance walks a little bit faster than in the weeks past. She has also started to sit on her hind legs more, and less laying around. Last night when giving our dog his medicines, she made her way over and was yelling at me to give her some treats. She was promptly treated to Purebites because I'm a sucker and missed her.

Just called the vet again to get diet and dosing information from them, along with their BG readings when they took it. Other than everything mentioned above, not a lot happening today. Peeka's stool looked about 97% solid and she was vocal about wanting her food and ate with no hesitations. Hoping for continued healing, especially with her neuropathy. She isn't able to jump on things yet, but I do believe we are seeing signs of improvement there!

morning Peter Sorry I was having computer problems last night. (I fear they arent over yet but we shall see) lol
I love the tests at the later hours. Good on you.
As you know I cant give dosing help but it looks to me like you are doing a great job!
Please give little Peeka AND Boo some well deserved scritches from all of us! :bighug:
