Hey y'all,

Not too much to report. Peeka has been receiving plenty of scratches and love the last few days, I've caught her staring at our bed longingly and I know she wants to jump up but isn't able to just yet. Still breaks my heart, but I'm hopeful the day will come soon where she is able to join us all on her own.

Outside of slightly elevated numbers the last few days, I don't think we have any concerns at the moment. If the Prozinc still shows numbers similar to what we've seen, I'll consider a dosage increase. Otherwise, I will hope to see more blues with the switch. Peeka stool has been firming up considerably, so that is nice to see.

We will be celebrating my wife's birthday today, Boo and Peeka's version of a gift to my wife is waiting until 3 am to wake us up for their early morning snack :rolleyes:

Nice report Peter. I think once you get that Prozinc on board, things will change for the better for little Peeks. I cant wait for THAT report...The first time she jumps back up on that bed.;)

One thing to note about the last day, I'm not sure if there is a cause for concern, but Peeka has been having hairball issues the last day. Yesterday I found some on her bed, and this morning, I saw another one near her food bowl. She has had hairballs in the past, but none in a while.

I was just wondering whether she might be shedding more than usual rather than any bald patches. I wondered whether that might be the case because an unregulated cat can't use the nutrients it consumes effectively and the body may suppress certain 'non-critical' functions such as hair coat replacement in order to prioritise metabolic processes that sustain life. When the kitty starts on insulin and regulation starts to improve the body resumes the 'non-critical' functions. Sometimes this is evidenced by the kitty shedding its old coat and growing a new one in a very short space of time, and that could potentially give rise to a furball problem.

Interesting, I won't rule anything out at this point. I will keep a closer eye on her shedding for sure. Excited to start the Prozinc this weekend and see some consistency with her numbers. Lately the vetsulin hasn't been as effective, so I'm hopeful this is the last adjustment (outside of dosage increases) that we will need to make to get Peeka regulated.
