? Panicking - dropped Prozinc vial

When I was preparing this morning's Prozinc syringe I had a fumble and managed to drop the vial.
Unfortunately it missed the breakfast bar I was sat at and fell to the uncarpeted floor. So fell about 3 feet and rolled a little way. I am not concerned about the roll as it would be like the roll i do between my hands but will the fall have caused any damage?
I checked the vial and there are no cracks or anything just a little dent in the side of the soft metal top. The insulin mixed fine, no lumps or anything
So I am hoping all is OK ? It is prozinc and about half full still.
Thank you for any help - I will post this on the main health site too as I know that one can be a bit busier so didn't know what to do for the best.
Thanks
Gill

You and the insulin will be fine.

I dropped a vial of lantus for a cat sitting client on their kitchen tile floor, and the vial shattered.
Think about putting some bubble wrap around the vial, or some foam cut from one of those foam pipe wraps, to help protect it.

Thanks Deb those are great ideas.

I've done this several times, LOL!! At work, I draw up certain medications in glass vials. Those have been dropped too, Those little vials are pretty resistant! Eeek.. Then I just read that Deb's vial shattered.. Yikes. Not the Lantus! $$$
The shattered vial wasn't even mine, it was a pet sitting clients, and they still had me take care of their cat for many years, a couple of dozen times a year.

The vial dropped onto the kitchen tile floor, because I bobbled it out of the shelf holding it on the fridge door. After that time, I was always EXTREMELY careful handing the glass vials.

What a nightmare! Catsitter eh ? We are going to have to find one of those in future now to pop on twice daily when we go on holiday. My 84 year old father usually comes in and does food - litter tray duty twice a day for us but there is no way I can ask him to do injections- don't suppose you fancy a taking on a job that means a twice daily commute by aeroplane ??!! Lol :D

OH my gosh! At that point I wouldn't even know what to do! Did they have a spare vial? Yeah they kept you! You would be a tough cat sitter to replace!

Hummmm, I think it's a bit far from the east coast of the US to get to where you live, get back home, and then turn around to do it again.

Nice thought though. I bet it's nice and green where you are during the winter months. Looking at all the dreary brown of the bare trees and the dead leaves gets a bit old, fast.

You could post a thread in the Feline Health forum, asking if anyone has ideas on finding a diabetic friendly cat sitter near where you live in the UK.

We're the same bare trees & dead leaves with just the odd evergreen tree \ hedge to brighten it up.
18 was a good age - Mac & Lady are 14 and Tucker was 16 when we lost him. I wonder how old the oldest kitty is on here - I might start a thread to find out.
