Pancreatitis

Found out why my Adam's diabetes is not under control with insulin, he has pancreatitis- diagnosed Jan 14, and has been on Leukeran- will finish with that in a couple days- he looks great, playing, weight is almost back to normal, doing what he used to. Had his blood checked and everything was good. But, his bg levels are still up there he starts out about 500's to High, drops to 200-300 range, than goes back up by the time insulin is needed again. He gets 5 units twice a day. He's on a low carb diet- canned and raw. I feel his levels wouldn't stabilize until pancreas is better. Has anyone experienced Pancreatitis leading to diabetes- which is what I think - Will his bg eventually go down.
 
I've been treating him since October for diabetes, than again in Jan. he wasn't eating, looked like he lost weight overnight-took him to the vet where he stayed for a couple days, they had the fpli test done and that's when we found out it was pancreatitis- He was put on amoxicilin,famotidine,fluids daily for a couple weeks, marin, B12-once a week and Lukeran. Previously on Lantis 2units-2xday and changed to BCP PZ1 U-100 5 units 2xday. Im trying to do a low carb, now low fat diet combination. I do testing everyday, if home I'm will test at intervals-but sometimes will skip cause I know they will be high anyway, and will save the ear pinch. I have to figure out posting on the chart. Today morning reading was 553,3pm-257,5:30pm-419 and by 8pm will be Hi again. Read everyone with cp should have a cp kit on hand- what should be in it. food,pepcid,fluids,pain meds? My vet gave me tramadol for pain-but lost most of them-he just knew it was in the food!
 
Take a look at my spreadsheet for the last few days. Pearl has had a pancreatitis flare (she has probably had them for her whole life with me but I only just got to thinking "pancreatitis" this last time and vet agreed as you could see it on the xray). I am giving her pepcid and just a little buprenex for pain. She also has arthitis and bad teeth. She's probably often in pain and I didn't know it. Look at the drop. Pain control is really important in pancreatitis. My vet told me that it is suspected most cats that go in to diabetes from steroids probably have a pre-existing pancreatic problem (which makes sense).
