This has now been going on months. Basically liquid ewww...
We did Metrodiaznole...allergic reaction after 2 weeks. (antibiotic)
Children's Immodium...no improvement
Tylosin...no change. Was on for over 30 days as it can take a while to work(antibiotic)
Psyllium as a bulking agent...no change
Wormed...4 times
Terramin...minimal improvement...other benefits though
All duck...too fatty
All venison... started now & pancreatic supplements
I am sure I missed something...to list.
So we're now trying Pancreatic enzyme supplementation. If I am to believe the Waltham site...I should see an improvement in 2-3 days. We started Friday evening. As of last night we're still with the liquid ewwwws.
Color is light brown to tan. Consistency will vary from puddingish to liquid ewww. Gaseous at times. Can be very malodorous.
Vet seems to believe this is due to pancreatic damage and inflammation. He hasn't called it outright pancreatitis but we did test for it. The test was inconclusive. He believes it is a malabsorption syndrome.
Looked at the symptoms for EPI, but we're not having the vomiting and weightloss or dehydration. It is just this twice to three times a day liquid...ewww.
I've had lots of thoughts on this and just don't know anymore. Any ideas or directions we should consider?
We know he has been treated for roundworms and hookworms more than several times. The worms have been confirmed several times as well. So in that regard it wasn't just a blind shot.
All the cats share the litter boxes. The two civvies in the house appear to be fine and not "catching" anything. But, when we wormed...we wormed everybody!!! Just to be sure.
