My 16.5 yr old has acute p-titis again. It started to flare on Sat and I took him to the clinic and he was dehydrated and in pain. Started him on Cerenia and analagesics and subqs daily. The Cerenia made him feel and act better and eat more.
Today I had to take him in for an ultrasound which confirmed acute pancreatitis. His BG was 22 mmol/L yesterday am and 18 mmol/L last night.
The vet told me to fast him since 6pm last night until his ultrasound this aft at 4pm and because of the fasting, not to give him insulin.
Tonight at 8 pm when I tested his sugar he was at 34.8 mmol/L. I gave him .5U more than his regular dose.
He is acting fine except for the torbugesic anesthetic they gave him is still making him act funny, but
could the blood sugar this high kill him? (the last time he had p-titis, he did get up to a 28.7)
