Pam and Tango

Hi everyone,

I am very happy to join this group and share in the wealth of information and support that is offered. Tango is an 8 year old orange and white tabby from Ontario, Canada that was diagnosed July 22, 2024. He is healthy with the exception of one tooth that needs to be removed and could potentially be impacting his levels. The vet would like to stabilize his glucose as best we can before removing it.

He was eating Hills Prescription diet t/d and has now been switched to low carb fancy feast pate. We gave Senvelgo a try last week but with just two doses he had very high levels of ketones and we stopped immediately. I am forever grateful for my KetoMoJo purchase to monitor his blood ketone levels throughout that short trial.

Today marks our first Lantus administration of 1 unit BID. His blood glucose levels have averaged 16.5 mmol/L.

I look forward to advice as we enter this new world and am grateful for all the support I see on these message boards.

I took a stab at creating his spreadsheet and will continue to update for tracking.

Looking forward to chatting and learning from you all :)

Pam

Welcome!

Wow, good catch on the ketones! You were very smart to be so proactive on that; it's a huge risk with these new medications.

I can't see your spreadsheet, when I click the link the error message is that the file doesn't exist.

Pam if you can do your signature please .It's information we need for Tango, it's at the end of every one's posts in gray letters. You can tap on your name up top then tap on the word signature and add the following, whatever pertains to Tango

Be sure to click the 'Save Changes' button at the bottom. If you need help urgently it is important we know these things at a glance. We don’t want to waste valuable time finding out information.

Welcome to FDMB!

It sounds like you've been doing your homework. You've got Tango on a low carb diet, you're home testing. and your spreadsheet is up and running!!

Just a word -- be patient. In most cases, it takes Lantus 5 - 7 days to build a depot and start working. It has a slow and gentle action and has a long duration. It doesn't typically drop numbers fast. Given that Tango developed ketones on Senvelgo, please keep testing for ketones.
