Thanks for remembering me, Phoebe! And yes, I live about 25 minutes from the shelter where Paisley is currently staying. In this area, it is extremely hard to get a pet owner, let alone a shelter, to treat a cat for diabetes. And Cyn is right, the economy here is TERRIBLE. It's been in the toilet longer than it has for the rest of the country, and I don't know when it might come around.
All that aside, the shelter housing Paisley is one of the best in West Michigan. Both my dog (now GA) and my civie came from that shelter. If the shelter was between me and work, I would gladly try to figure out a way to help with a shot schedule. Unfortunately, it is not, and I cannot foster Paisley right now.
I have been in touch with Venita since she became aware of Paisley. My contact info has been forwarded to the shelter in case the vet tech needs help with the Lantus protocol. And I have told Venita I am quite willing to help with transport. Last I talked with Venita, she was working hard to help Paisley...I'm confident she'll get things worked out!
