Hi all - just wanted to update re little Ozzie. I finally got his SS w/ the much appreciated help from Gayle and Pattie up and online and will input some of the hospital data over the w'end, which in itself is kinda of interesting w/ what treatment they took as his numbers were presented. He is doing well (holding his own) and his numbers have decreased a little. I just took his urine ketone/glucose strip test before we head to bed and his green is bright green(neg) for his glucose which I have never seen. He is eating well and seems a lot more like his old self, prowling the apt looking for the invisible mice in the closets and vocally telling us to open a window so he can survey the landscape that he missed for two weeks even though it's dropping to autumnish temps outside here in NYC, he loves the fresh air which he misses so much from when he was a young kitty in Maine where I adopted him.
I was out most of the day due to interviewing - praying I get the job - and so was worried about being away so long from him, even though my sis is looking after him - doesn't want to prick him b/c she's worried about hurting him. Came back and for the first time in weeks he came to the door like his old self. The Dr called regarding his numbers and suggested that he start at 2 1/2 starting AM tomorrow as he would like to shave the numbers down. He is gradually gaining a little weight back and seems to be gaining back strength.
THANK YOU for all the prayers, well wishers, healing vines and general wonderful advice about dosing, meds and taking care of him. I'm still poking his little paws but it doesn't seem to hurt as it did -- the ears are for a little later, I don't think I can handle that experiment by myself at the moment esp., if the blood from his paw is the same as his ears...Someone who has a heart of gold has offered to come out to Brooklyn and help show me how to test from his ears...could you get any kinder - you people are wonderful!
Anyway will keep checking in and hope all is okay w/ everyone - prayers and thoughts for all the kitties on here who need them.
