to add...

I'd like to test Ozzie when I get home after I feed him, but no shot.

How long do I have to wait to do that? I have class tonight, but have about 30 mins I will be home beforehand.

You have to give the food at least an hour, hour and a half before you figure the bg level is accurate enough to base a dose on. And then you can't be sure.

Are you thinking about this to see if the number goes down after feeding? It would be interesting to see, but you still have shootable numbers. So I am thinking possibly some pancreatic action but still needs insulin.

You could try this at night sometime - after +6, maybe a snack, then a test 30 minutes later to see if he went up or down?

Off tomorrow actually. Today is work all day and grad school all night!

I'll try to test him around 11pm tonight, then give him a snack and see.

So when does OTJ happen?

A kitty is considered OTJ when he is in normal numbers (40-120 with the majority of this time in double digits) without insulin for 2 weeks. Fingers and paws crossed you guys will get there. It is looking good!

Ozzie +11 =120

Probably check him later at 10 or 11pm.

I'll proceed tomorrow morning in similar fashion with his AM shot. 200+ .25.

He's doing great! Totally got the hang of the ear pricking now. It's cute when he hears the zipper on the meter bag he goes and gets in his bed for testing. :-D

He seems to be doing great! No huge pee clumps, his battle wounds from him brother are healing up too!

Glad to see the second post. I do wish we could get a dose that you could give twice a day. But that would mean under .25 and that would be hard on U40 syringes. The only way I have seen people do it is to give a "drop" - get a tiny bit in the syringe and then squirt everything out except a drop. Then dose that.

It is okay that he gets that long surf from .25 It would just be nice if he could surf along in low numbers day and night.
