The past few cycles haven't been too bad, but Tucker sails along and then spikes up into 500's AMPS! I've gone a few drops under 1.25, and also, a few drops over. (Made notes in the cell on SS)
Should I be doing this? Or should every change be left in place for a few cycles??

It depends really. Some cats need consistency in dose. However I'm not sure that a few drops over or under should cause the numbers to be so different. If you were micro dosing maybe but not with a dosage like 1.25. I'm still for raising to 1.5 when you can monitor. Just my opinion. You're still testing for ketones?

Yep. Never anything but NEG
I am trying to mellow out Friday as a start up for the 1.5
Thanks Rachel

I think so too. There could be a low hiding in there but it doesn't seem likely. It just seems like the insulin isn't lasting quite long enough and that can mean you need a little more. If you can watch (maybe +2 and around 5-7) i would go up to 1.5

Noticed that you're feeding all fish. Whenever you can, I'd introduce a different flavor - maybe one of the chicken classic flavors or Friskies pates. All fish isn't a great idea. (I know I've nagged about that before, but I am a nagger.....)

Hi, Brenda - My former "fish-addict" kitty just loves the Fancy Feast Classic Turkey & Giblets Feast, also the Classic Chicken Feast. (Might start doing the gradual 3/4 to 1/4, 1/2 to 1/2, 1/4 to 3/4 type of thing with the food to help with transitioning from fish to other types if your kitty is picky.) Fish is fine every now & then ... but Sue's right on about all-fish diet not being good for cats. (Hey, Sue: Being a nagger can be a very good thing! :))

Oh lord. I'll try to rotate something else in. I had trouble locating the Turkey and Giblets one, it was my second choice, never can find it. Same with the Friskies. I'll have to order it a case at a time and Walmart sucks at this. Even when my 3 case order DOES ARRIVE the communication is deplorable. Waaa. :banghead: Sorry for the boo hoo. My bad.
So can I bake chicken thighs and serve as a meal? (sans skin)
Oh and Sue, you can nag all you want..you are Saint Sue around this house. :bighug:

Nope. Plain chicken is a good snack but not a complete food. You could try the websites for PetSmart or Amazon

But you might be sure he'll eat it before ordering a case

OK Robin. I knew it was too good to be true. My whole crew will eat the fish one! I'll do my best. I really would prefer supplementing w something home prepared ....?
What the heck CAN I make??? A turkey? A chicken?

OK. I'll refer to the dietary list again. It's on the homepage right?
And did you see our +8? 53.
I tried something w feeding schedule, and I believe I've been overfeeding him before test Sue.

53? Will probably be a bounce but watch carefully. You don't want him in the 40s

You don't want him to eat 2 hours before the /pm test. Otherwise, mini meals are fine

I get the FF Classic Turkey/Gliblets directly from Amazon (case of 24 3-oz. cans) & was amazed that it's actually a penny cheaper per can (whoop-de-do, huh?) than at the local Walmart.

You probably have already heard but just in case you hadn't, Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets and I believe all the other Special Diets are being discontinued. A lot of people here use that product, particularly those that have kidney problems issues, are scrambling trying to find another substitute. Many have submitted comments to Friskies indicating our frustration of them discontinuing it.

Yes I am watching him closely. I brought him outdoors with me for awhile to keep him alert, just in case. Going to test as soon as I harvest some dinner.
What will be deciding factor now, regarding the increase?
Shall I coast along for a few, trying the new feeding schedule?

Where do you submit comments for that Cindi? I would help out.

Yes that's the key isn't it. I've learned alot in the past half hour reading everyone's posts about food over on Health.
It really IS a dance!!
I'll stop asking so many questions and just try some!

I'll locate a few cans for testing. Then try Amazon. My friend & I split a Prime, so I can really get some use out of it now huh.

Also Robin.. Is there just one Fortiflora? Or is there a choice? Do you have a link for it?

Yeah, that's what I did: Made sure she would actually eat it first. The bonus is that I'm not paying for than Purina dm canned anymore. The Purina diet is waaaay expensive, and it smells like crap ... even before it exits Bat's bottom!

Funny you should mention that..the SMELL!! I have a total repulsion to canned cat food! Gaaakkk!! I was raised pretty vegan-ish. But I've always used tuna as a go-to.
I cannot eat it right now.
I am surviving on quinoa, miso & salad.
Oh, and rhubarb w ICE CREAM!!

That sure is a bummer for those people who've been using the Friskies Special Diet; just looked at that link you posted Cindi. Sure hope the manufacturer reconsiders ...
Makes me want to write to Abbott to tell them they're losing market share by the high pricing of their Alpha Trak 2 test strips. I mean ... come on, Abbott! I find it hard to believe that the technology is all that more complex for manufacturing those strips. $59.50 a bottle is the best price I've ever found, and then you have to sacrifice the first one in every vial to test the darned things with control solution. Annoying!:arghh:

Robin - I read somewhere that you can now buy another test strip that works with the Alpha Trak2. The cost is considerably cheaper and I think just about the same price as the human meter test strips. Did you see that conversation? If not, I will try and find it for you.

Yes, I have seen it, or something like it. Some folks use Abbott's Freestyle human-glucometer strips as a substitute.

Just remembered this, after I posted a question about going up. I can watch, so I am going up to 1.5 which I mistakenly called 3units. Sorry
