We just had our first bg reading in the green on the spreadsheet. Thinking I should not be giving a shot tonight. Does that sound right? Just updated and uploaded my spreadsheet.

Well, it depends.

Ideally, yes, you would go ahead and give the shot and "shoot low to stay low."

I was scared of that for so long, then I started doing it and we've been green for days.
You can also give a reduced dose, aka "big chicken shot."

If you don't give the dose at all, she's going to go right back up.
But you'll have to monitor her a few times during the night.

Are you going to do "tight regluation" or not? I'd highly recommend you go onto on the Lantus boards in the insulin support groups and ask there. Folks are great on both of them. The tight regulation has a lot more people and you may get more responses there.

Some very experienced users will still give a Lantus shot when their kitties are above 50. However, shooting that low means that you'll have to get some mid-cycle ("in-between") tests in. If you can't get mid-cycle tests, aren't going to be home to monitor, etc., then I personally would not recommend that you give a shot.

Lantus dosing is based on the nadir (the low point in the cycle). If you don't get some mid-cycle tests, it's hard to figure out if the dose needs increased, decreased, etc.

That's just my 2 cents' worth! ;-)
