Hello! Last Monday my vet suggested to do a trial of two weeks with no insulin to see how Kiki’s pancreas does on its own. It will be two weeks in a few more days and I just wanted to know how you think she is doing? I am supposed to call the vet Tuesday to let them know. I don’t like some of the higher numbers I’ve recorded before her meal times but it is great to see that she is producing insulin on her own again! I guess I just would like some advice on her numbers and whether or not we should continue without the insulin or if I should go back to giving her .25 units to be safe? Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you :)

Also.. I have a full time job so I haven’t been able to test her as much as I’d like.

When a cat is doing an OTJ trial, we like to see almost all numbers under 100, with only the odd one above. And nothing above 120. Are you giving her multiple small meals during the day? Try feeding a few tsps of LC at around +9 in the AM and PM, to see if that kick starts her pancreas to bring down the numbers at what would have been PS time.

An alternate, if you put her back on insulin, is a 0.1 units dose, about half of that 0.25 units.

We like to see strong OTJ trial results so you get a strong remission and she doesn't need to go back onto insulin later.
