OTJ Trial - Getting closer...

So there are just a few days left until we hit 14 days without insulin. Sam's numbers have been green the whole time so far. But many of them have just barely been green. 97 seems to be his favorite number.

Looking at spreadsheets from other cats who are OTJ, I see that many of them are running numbers much lower than this. With numbers rarely getting above 70 on the ss I've looked at. I'm wondering if there are any thoughts on this. I feel like his numbers are still higher than I would like to see, based on other kitties who are OTJ, but maybe I'm just being "greedy"? Also, I don't know what I could do about it anyway since giving insulin at a BG would be ridiculous.

Is this just me being nervous since we're so close? Should I just relax and be happy he's getting greens and not worry about exactly which number it is? I guess I just need some reassurance today that he really is doing okay.
 
Good question. You'll hate that my answer is "Every cat is different". The range for remission is 40-120 and some cats run in the 90s and some in the 40s. It would be reassuring if he'd be in the lower ranges, but higher may just be where his body prefers. I do think, since he is in that range, you'll need to test daily for a few more weeks even after our OTJ party. If he decides to jump back up, a little bit of insulin may be needed to get him down lower.
 
I agree with Sue. I think I'd just keep an eye on things for a bit to make sure he doesn't need a drop or two of insulin here or there.

@Sue and Oliver (GA) I was really hoping you would tell me I was just being a worry-wart, but my gut was saying that he's not quite out of the woods.

I don't even want to ask, because I'd rather just think he's going to make it to OTJ, but what happens if his numbers do go back up? Do I just monitor unless he gets to 180-200? Or is there something else before it's that bad?
