Hello,

Tomorrow morning will be two weeks off of the insulin for Jaxon. He is doing extremely well and has resumed his pre-diabetes activities. His fur is so much softer and he appears to be happy again. SO my question is what do i do now? I have been taking blood glucose levels twice daily for the 2 weeks he has been off of the insulin. how often should i be taking his blood now that we have hit the two weeks? Should he begin to have elevated BGL should i start insulin again @ 0.25U?

It is so wonderful to see him running around chasing his brother and sister again. He is also in heaven every time he gets fed! he definitely enjoys the wet food diet.

Any advice would be great,

Thank you!! :-D

Thank you, we have been lucky and seem to have gotten things under control quite quickly. At first i thought it might be a fluke but tomorrow morning will be two weeks!

People really vary with how much they test once their cat is OTJ. I'm linking Libby's SS for her Lucy. Lucy has been OTJ since March of 2009.

I would post if you start to see unusual numbers. (Actually, I'd take Jaxon to the vet if you see numbers outside the normal range.) Infection or the need for a dental can raise numbers.

This is really exciting. :-D We have been 22 days without insulin and I'm still 'weaning' myself off testing.  I've heard that you can go down to 3-4 days, then once a week, then once a month. I've not decided yet what we will do but figure one day at a time. We are wanting to go back to the vet for a checkup and another blood workup but just have not had a chance to get it schedule.

So happy for you.

Great information everyone, Thank you.

I have just discovered the honeymoon board, (i didnt realize it was there) we are all very happy for Jaxon and he is very happy as well. He is carrying around his favourite toys in his mouth and talking like mad during the night! I will continue to test at a level i feel comfortable with and will bring him into the vet if his numbers begin to rise outside of is "normal" range.

I could not have gotten him here with out all of your help, guidance and information!!! We all thank you!!!!
