Ross has been off insulin for over two weeks now but last night and today he spiked to a 320 then 340 I gave him half a unit this morning so I can watch him but does anyone Know if that's a sign of not going into remission or I read about a sputtering pattern sometimes any one know anything about this any advice would be great thanks

Yes it's quite possible that Ross' pancreas got back to business for a few days and has now slowed down again. Ross went from 1u to nothing and it's quite possible that a little more insulin at lower doses may be needed (when safe to give it) for a while longer just to give his pancreas a little more support before it can take over completely again. He may not be in remission just yet but he may still go there so don't be discouraged.

It's also possible that he is in remission but has an infection brewing (urinary tract/respiratory/dental issues) and that has caused the spike of his BG.

OK I was kinda worried about him I gave half a unit this morning and he's dropped alot!!! In the 50 again so I'm watching close today and hopefully he's still going into remission! If not here we go again! I'll have to take him for a vet visit maybe to check on an infection thank you.

If .5u is taking him too low, then can you take him down to .25u? I know there are no markings on the syringe for 1/4 units, but can you eyeball it? I haven't used 40unit insulin syringes for so long, I can't recall the markings off hand.
It can be a bit of roller coaster ride when they get close to remission. Hopefully it's not an infection and he will be OTJ very soon!
