hey all you OTJ peeps who feel homeless (I just read Boomer's condo from yesterday)...

you know we have the backup board, right? Everybody can post social stuff there every single day, nothing is off topic, and the Community part is just for Lantus Landers. Nobody has posted there in a while, but all it needs is for somebody to start and it will surely take off again. Browse around while you're there, there are a lot of good discussions from the past. Somebody could start an OTJ condo building, that might be fun!

Registration is required. Please be patient if you are registering for the first time, as we do have the board set to require moderator approval of all registrations.

Please make it on the backup board, if it's for socializing or general chitchat. Of course, any OTJ kitty is welcome to open a condo here on any day if they have questions, or want to celebrate a milestone, or just feel like posting an update (and any Caturday).

The "Community" section of the backup board exists for that very reason, we are a community, we are family, and we never want any of our family to feel like they don't have a place to go, even if their cat is OTJ or GA. It's also a good place to share pictures of your civvies, or your life (Merlin's mom posted pictures of her new condo) or whatever you want to talk about that is or isn't FD related.

The backup board is also nice because posts don't get bumped to the 2nd page as quickly.
 
I always thought the honeymooners group was an OTJ group, right here on FDMB. Is it for something else? Couldn't OTJ condos be built there? It seems nice to have everyone in the same neighborhood! Of course, the backup board DOES have a pool! :lol:
 
eh, I signed up for LL backup when FDMB was having big wonkiness issues a while back, but can't deal with keeping track of another board. Donovan and I will just continue to lurk quietly here.
 
Now how could someone pass up a place with a pool?
I think making use of the backup board is a great idea, if you don't want to use the community area here.
And then, there's always the pool ... :lol:

Family? I don't think so, unless it's the disfunctional type of family that disinherits people. If you tick anybody off, they'll ban you from the backup board, just as they banned me and then try to force you to shut up about it (in fact, it will be interesting to see how long before this post disappears!).

Here, on the regular board, "they" don't have quite as many rights. Just wanted to point that out, since I've been banned for 4 months now.

LL is a very active forum with a lot of posters. it's often difficult for those who are offering advice to get to those seeking answers when they have to wade through numerous chit-chatty type posts. there's only so much time in a day, kwim?

karen/splash (thank you, karen) set up the backup board for us not only as an alternative to this board (should fdmb be experiencing technical difficulties), but as a place for socializing with the rest of our LL family. in addition to "real time chat" available in maddie's pool there are several forums set up there to discuss almost anything and everything.

the backup board is a private forum not associated with fdmb. as libby mentioned, you must set up a yuku account and apply for membership. please use your fdmb screen name so we know who is applying. if you haven't had a chance to check it out, please do so. i think you'll like it!

don't forget... we are part of the larger FDMB community. everyone is welcome to post non-fd related subjects in the Community Forum on this board.
 
Just an FYI: many corporate sites block yuku. Some of you that check in from work may not be able to access the backup board the way you do the FDMB.
 
I could be mistaken, but I don't think OTJers want their own individual daily condos -- one condo where we could all congregrate should be sufficient.

You don't need to post an OTJ condo on the back up board every day. Just when you have an update to share or feel like posting :smile:

Feel free to post general chit-chat stuff on the back up board, too or just browse through the current threads.

I love the LL backup board place, YUKU thing. I check it at least once a week and if some of us are in Maddie's pool chatting, usually one of us will announce on FDMB that the pool is open. Aside from the chatty part, It's a great way to get to know people and their kitties. Not to mention all the great links and stuff. I recommend it. :mrgreen:


But geez, that Traci, what a cry baby.
