I can't believe it's only been four months since we started on Lantus. It really feels like a year has passed already. We certainly didn't expect to get here so fast - looking back at all the late nights and high numbers it seems impossible. But here we are!

I would have never guessed in a million years that I would have to give Bj insulin. It came as quite a shock and I'm quite confident all of you can relate. For us it started with a funny smell in my man cave. I was taking a nap one day and I couldn't put my finger on what the heck it was. It was very faint. It would go away then come back and eventually I figured out it was cat urine. I would search everywhere but couldn't find the source of it. Until one day I sat in the recliner and my butt got all wet. Hey, it wasn't me!

So this went on for a while. What's sad is I blamed this on our other cat Pyewacket. Bj has never EVER done bad kitty stuff - he is purrfect like that. But poor Pye was new to the house after having had to move in to this strange new place with a strange new cat, Bj. And though Pye's sweet, she could be naughty - she would do her business in the bathtub sometimes. Hey, if you're going to do it in the house at least it's somewhere easy to clean!

Anyway, we thought it was litterbox sharing issue/territorial claims as the cause. So we put in another cat box. Then another. But the peeing didn't stop and now it had spread to other areas of the house, not just the basement. I hate the smell of cat pee and it's embarassing as hell. And it's a big house - I could seldom pinpoint the source without getting on my hands and knees and sniffing the carptet so I could clean. I was getting pretty upset about it.

Yet, I could never catch either cat doing this. But Bj had been peeing a LOT and drinking water like crazy. Strange. He started acting guilty and one day he just decided to pee behind the TV and I finally caught this. Took him to the vet and you know the rest of this story. Good news is that the peeing stopped real fast.

I don't need to tell anybody here how difficult the next few months were and how it impacted our lifestyles. But on the flipside I got to spend a LOT more time with Bj and since he's getting on in years, that's a good thing. I also got to meet a bunch of cool people on here - The most kind, smart, and helpful people I've ever encountered on the net. I really mean that, you all are special people. We wouldn't be having this nice party if it wasn't for all of your guidance and support over these long months. I would like to dedicate this party to all of you and your wonderful cats as well.
