Hello-

It's been a while since we posted on here. My buddy Ozzie was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years ago, and fortunatley with the help of this board was OTJ within 2 months and diet controlled. I noticed about a month ago he was limping. Figured he may have hurt himself and waited a few days to see if it improved, which it did. Limp came back this past weekend, and Ozzie hasn't been eating much and has been sleeping all day. Took him to the vet this morning. They took some bloodwork, and went through the Myriad of possibilties including the C word. He's also lost 2 lbs since June and is losing muscle :( Really not sure what's happening to my buddy. Anyone experience anything similar? Hoping the bloodwork leads us to what we can do to make him feel better. Figured I wait on the bloodwork which is coming back tomororw than home testing his sugarhim to give him a break from being poked. I fed him some tuna this afternoon which he ate, think I may boil some chicken later. He normally eats wellness. I was attributing the amount of leftover food to it being hot out, but maybe that's not the case.

Anyways... thanks for all the support on here. I am determined to get my baby better.

Puzzled.

If the diabetes has returned, control of that, plus methylcobalamin may help with the lameness.

If it is cancer in the bone, by the time the cat is limping, it often has metastasized. Treatment would buy some very expensive time, if the cat is OK with vet visits.

Good luck.

Bloodwork came back all normal.... which is good and bad. Doc gave him some NSAID's until friday when we can go back in. Wish I knew what was going on, that's the hardest part.

I'm sure that will be the next step tomorrow, if not I will make sure it is.

Poor guy.... breaks my heart.

If the limping is coming and going has your vet mentioned arthritis? It wouldn't give no info on the weight loss though.

I asked about arthritis, but they feel 13 is a little young.

I am wondering if he hurt himself... he actually had the limp 3 weeks post June annual but it went away after a few days so I chalked it up to him rough housing with Milo or just hurting himself.

You could try some Cosequin. It will take at least 3 weeks before you may notice a difference. I have also heard that acupuncture also can be effective.

I actually was thinking about the Cosequin prior to bringing him earlier this week.
I really wonder if he hurt himself a month and a half ago. He was limping then, but it went away.

Back from the vet... he was running a temp this time, so sent us home with some doxy to see how it goes this weekend. he couldn't feel any bone masses or anything like that, so fingers crossed the antibiotics help.
