Lily's BG pre-shot levels have been low over the last week or more so we haven't been giving any insulin. Tonight her BG was 49. Spreadsheet has more data points. Has this happened with anyone else's cat? I am excited that she might not need insulin for now (OTJ?!?). But now I'm getting worried that her BG is getting lower and lower. Any advice/suggestions?

Hi Nicole.
49 is a wonderful otj number.
Cats can't hypo if they aren't getting insulin.

I would suggest a little more consistent testing simply because that 49 is random and there might have been
some higher numbers ( hopefully not) but the previous test was the day before.

I have to go read up on your history. If the numbers all changed from a diet change.... that's wonderful.

It does look like you just changed the diet.....
Paws crossed that Lily will stay in good numbers and not need insulin.

But to play it safe, do test.... and observe.
I would be checking often this week if I were you to make sure.
If Lily still needs support and you quit without checking, you could miss this wonderful opportunity to get her to remission.

Also remember being in remission means Lily is still a diabetic.... just a diet controlled diabetic.
Mine has been in remission for almost a year and I still monitor so I can catch it fast.

Normal cats are 50-130 but we reguarly see ones that go to 40 and of course meter error has to be factored in. If she isnt on insulin, she cant go hypo. So dont worry.. she looks great!
