Just an update on DD's kitty Clover who had the red gums and infected eye and so many of you helped with your ideas. It turned out the red gums were from her teeth.

DD took her to a specialist dentist last week and it was found she had two sets of permanent back teeth ...the 3 back molars top and bottom both sides had two sets. The dentist said it was very unusual. The gums had been damaged in places where the teeth were biting into the gums and the gums were infected....poor little thing. And she had kept eating without complaint.
She had dental surgery and had 13 teeth removed. She stayed a day and night in the hospital before going home. She came home on oral antibiotics and painkillers.
She still has all her little front teeth, her canines and the premolars. We are hoping everything will settle down now.
She is doing well since the op and eating and playing. She goes back for a check up in a week.

Poor Clover - she must be feeling so much better now! Mandarin's brother (who was adopted by a friend of mine) retained some of his baby teeth and needed them extracted before he was even a year old. He also felt a lot better afterwards.... and he might have gained a pound or two.

Thanks everyone. From what I can gather, the dentist said the extra teeth "bud" from the normal teeth so I don't know if they had a normal root system or not but I think the only way to do it was to take the whole teeth with the budded teeth out. The dentist felt it was her best chance of getting her mouth back to normal. She's only 9 months old so awful to have a mouth like that at her age.
Mmmmm...yes Suki, I will have to mention to Amanda if the tooth fairy came!
