Good morning!!!!
I hope everyone had a good and safe Easter! This is the first time ever that DH and I have not held Easter dinner for our kids/grandkids! It sure was a quiet day (although a lot easier to clean up lol)!

I've heard there was some very nasty weather in the Eastern US yesterday! I hope everyone is ok! The winds are apparently headed here today; hopefully not the tornados.

Lots of photos to share this week; it's been a good week with Swallows, Northern Flickers and female Red-Winged Blackbirds coming in! There are apparently a few Warblers in but I haven't seen any yet so hopefully (if the weather cooperates) I'll have some for you next week!

This weeks photos.....a female Red-Winged Blackbird, a very cooperative Northern Flicker, a Tree Swallow (that posed for me for about 10 minutes lol), Mr and Mrs Cardinal being affectionate (taken in my backyard yesterday) and our local female Great Horned Owl that flew in to protect baby when a Canada Goose flew up above the nest. If you look closely, you can see the baby in the hole.

ETA: I missed one! The last one is a Brown Creeper....a difficult little bird to photograph and the first time I've been able to get a shot that I'm happy with!

I love all your pictures, Judy!! Thank you!! The owls are so sweet, all you can see is two little baby owl eyes in the tree and the swallow is sooo cute!!
 
Beautiful pictures Judy! I'm very fond of Flickers! I wish I could see one here...doesn't look like I'll be getting back to Michigan in time to see the arrival of any of our regulars. I'm sure the wetland is filled with red-winged blackbirds. They come early every year and set up many nests back in the cattails and reeds from last year.

Glad to hear your cough has simmered down to only an occasional cough...too bad it's gotta be in the middle of the night though! I don't miss that a bit!

Thanks Sue! I've been wandering whether you would be able to head back to Michigan! Is there a ban preventing travel from state to state?

Hi Judy, no there's no ban preventing people from traveling from state to state - however there are no restaurants open so stopping for a meal is out of the question - it's strictly drive-thru and carry out. Then there's the matter of staying in a hotel overnight - which most likely wouldn't be a problem if the hotel is open and not filled with caregivers - some hotels have dedicated their entire premises to caregivers who cannot go home to their families.

Then finally the issue of going back to Michigan would be that I would have to grocery shop and I'm hearing from family/friends back home that there are issues finding everything in the stores like we're used to. I have already done some extra shopping for us here in Florida so as to avoid running to the store frequently - but wouldn't be able to take much of that home - it's just not practical and we have enough stuff that we pack up without taking food, etc. along...so we're going to wait it out here for as long as it takes until things hopefully start to get back on an even keel.

And finally, last but not least - the weather in Michigan is cold and windy - 30's and 40's - while we're here in Florida we can at least go outside and ride our bikes or take walks around the property - although it does get quite warm later in the day now - so if we're going out we need to go early. I'm really hoping and praying this is all shaken out by the end of May...and then we'll decide if we're going to drive back or wait another week or three...at least by driving ourselves, it's completely optional as to when we make the trip.

It's at least two long days on the road...the only good thing about going earlier than later is there's likely to be little to no traffic...sometimes that can be rather daunting as commuters are around every city now in the states...makes for a slower drive sometimes...
 
All beautiful Judy. When I look out my front window I see nothing resembling nature. Out the back someone nocturnal is eating out peanuts, where are my squirrels? Thanks for a few minutes of sanity.

These are terrific photos, Judy. Thank you so much for posting them—nice to see some beauty during these dark days.
