Happy President's Day to my friends in the US and Happy Family Day to my Canadian friends in Ontario, New Brunswick, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and British Columbia!

I have some more photos, taken over the past week! We went back to Long Point one day and this time managed to get some shots of the swans and a pair of Common Mergansers that were flying in.

And the Great Horned Owls are nesting at the cemetery again and the Canada Geese are harassing her again by trying to get in the nesting hole. The photo that is attached.....Mama Owl was pretty much invisible prior to the goose flying up to the hole. Look at her eyes!

We went for a drive yesterday and I saw two large birds flying around....got my husband to pull over quickly because I spotted the white head of a Bald Eagle. Turned out there was a juvenile and adult flying together and two more juveniles flew in right after them! I couldn't get all four in one photo though :banghead:

I'm seeing lots of Cardinals around and hear them sing often! I still believe that Boomer has sent them to me so I always stop to listen to them and to thank them for their songs!

Oh Judy! They're gorgeous! I really loved the expression on the owl's face when that goose is trying to get into HER nest! I never realized a goose would even try anything like that!

It looks like you have a lot more bird traffic these days! I'm sure Boomer is out there sending them your way! He wants to make you happy :)

Fabulous pictures, Judy! I am amazed at the Canada Goose flying up to the owl's nest.

Boomer is sending you Cardinals. How wonderful.

Here we haven't seen many birds this winter. I thought I saw the female Cardinal the other morning, but it was still pretty dark out and I may have been mistaken. The Great Backyard Bird Count ended today and I didn't see any birds in my backyard except for our little flock of Chickadees and 1 lonely Goldfinch (but there were 3 here the other day). I did hear a Nuthatch.

Hope you had a nice Family Day.

Thank you Judy, they're gorgeous pictures!! I think of Boomer every time I see a Cardinal now. :bighug:
What in the world is that goose up to? Poor little owls, that must have been scary for them.

Lovely photos, Judy. We are seeing very little here this winter. The omni-resident Mr and Mrs Cardinal, a few chickadees, and a flight of mourning doves who perch all puffed out on cold, sunny days in one of our overgrown cedar bushes (now has tree status).
Thank you! Some days I have lots at my feeders; other days not so many.

Thanks Sue! It only seems to happen at this particular nest; we have another Horned Owl nest in a different location and the geese don't bother it.

Thanks Ella!
I love Chickadees! I have a couple that visit my backyard occasionally and they bring their friends the Nuthatches with them.

Thanks Sonia! I think the Owls are more angry than scared, Papa Owl doesn't even fly in when this happens and he's always in a nearby tree. Once the babies are born Mama Owl will start to leave the nest but she's always nearby and flies in quickly if a goose or a hawk comes too close.
